To create systemic change, we advocate for a new policy framework that recognizes and incentivizes sustainable companies in Switzerland. Therefore we launched a Manifesto for the Recognition of Sustainable Enterprises. We call on all Swiss decision-makers to support our initiative and sign the manifesto.

Today, the TPF network covers the entire canton of Fribourg, with its trains, regional buses and urban lines. Goal 1
Core business
By 2027 for the urban network and by 2033 for the regional network, we replace all our diesel buses with low climate impact technologies, i.e. battery-powered trolley buses, electric buses and hydrogen buses, all powered by Swiss electricity and hydrogen from renewable sources*.

In parallel, and by 2030, we increase our energy efficiency by 10 % and multiply by more than 5 our production of energy from renewable sources (2021 baseline: 72,623 MWh of energy consumed on TPF infrastructures and 573 MWh of solar electricity produced).

By 2030, we help increase the modal split of public transport in the canton to at least 22 %, compared with 17.5 % in 2015*.
* Modal split: Share of public transport in total passenger transport (sustainable mobility, motorised individual transport and public transport) on road and rail in % of person-kilometres.

Internal operations
By 2024, we improve the quality of natural environments on minimum 20 % of trackside areas, preserving and developing biodiversity along railway sections and areas, in line with the Swiss Biodiversity Strategy*.
* According to the biodiversity objectives set out in the service agreement drawn up by the Federal Office of Transport for railway infrastructure managers.

By 2027, we increase the number of apprenticeships by 20 %, from 18 in 2021 to 22 in 2027.

By 2030, we aim to increase the proportion of women in the TPF Group to at least 22 %, compared with 18.3 % in 2021, by implementing different measures*.
* Industry benchmark: The proportion of women in transport, logistics and tourism companies was 19 % in 2023 (Schillingreport 2023).
Scope of pledges
Transports publics fribourgeois (TPF) is the main player in mobility in the canton of Fribourg. It is organised as a holding company. A parent company, Transports publics fribourgeois Holding (TPF) SA, oversees three daughter companies: Transports publics fribourgeois Trafic (TPF TRAFIC) SA, Transports publics fribourgeois Immobilier (TPF IMMO) SA and Transports publics fribourgeois Infrastructure (TPF INFRA) SA. The pledges taken within the STI framework apply to the sustainability policy for all operations of TPF Group in Switzerland. The TPF Group is therefore accountable for their implementation within the limits of its field of activity.
